This is cool. Could we pour epoxy into it and have a good gear? looks like another area we could expand into. Tell us about the vacuform? cost, size and material.

Had some time with our two business participants at an open house at Prink Technologies new corporate office. Teachers - we are so on the right track what we teach and are doing here. Garrett is rolling along with and growing his business with a laser very similar to the ones we have. Cory at Icon3D has his CNC router cranking out parts similar to what our "hot Shot" students are producing but he is manufacturing parts by the hundreds and for a large international shoe company here in the Portland, OR area. Keep up the great work. JN
I just got this vacuform (see above pic) back from Don and I really don't know what brand it is. I have a small 8x12 and this one is like 12x14. One of my kids just dug up the manual and ran some styrene through it. This bigger machine has a much nicer vacuum and heating element. Bob or Pete would probably be the best to ask if this was really and option for a gear. I'm not sure if we could get it flat enough.
John and I talked, and this week we will each probably tear down one of our gear machines to test with parts that are coming in. That way some of you will have feedback and either start producing parts or modify. Time is really closing in on the end of the year.
I have thrown everything on my plate into 3 piles... has to happen, needs to happen, and ain't gonna happen. That last pile seems to be getting the biggest, fastest.

You would probably need to subtract the sheet thickness if you planned to run this, as the inside is the gear size and the outside is probably oversize.

It looks like our brackets have been drilled incorrectly, in that the holes are not perpendicular. This was caused by our drill press not being square. So we might have to re cut all the brackets. Bummer!

hello All,
Looks like our time is up. We will have all prototype parts from each of you this week. Now we need to decide how to regroup to finish...
1 - hold off till fall and pick up
2- look at meeting in Kelso at workshop to build parts
3 - expand and have teachers at kelso workshop produce parts and add them to "the group"
4 - other
