What does the lever on a Coleman stove do? You must turn the little wire lever so it points upward; this causes the stove to burn a mixture of air and fuel from the top of the tank . This prevent catastrophic flooding of the stove with fuel, but with the wire pointing upwards, the tank loses pressure quickly.
