I was looking for some things that I could cut on the laser to include in kits sent home with kids during distance learning and found these three puzzles. They were quick and easy to cut, and gave me some projects to help them build some basic Rhino skills. The two cube puzzles are similar to the 3D Puzzle exercise in chapter 6 of the Rhino Level 1 manual. The Rhomboid puzzle incorporates the idea of using guidelines for modeling, and teaches a couple basics of using the array commands. I'm attaching the Rhino files, as well as my assignment sheets (with video tutorial links).

As my students do more and more plasma cut signs, and as those signs get more and more complicated, I found that I needed to give them some tools to help them troubleshoot potential issues with their files before we actually cut them. This is the process that I have them use to check for cut-readiness prior to submitting their files to me.

This is a quick, simple little project I altered from one a friend does. It's good for teaching some simple principles of working with 3D objects, using the various viewports, and great for having a discussion at the 3D printer about the best way to orient a model to minimize support.

Here's a monogram sign project that my kids complete at the end of the 'Editing Geometry' section in the Level 1 Training Manual. This is their first project on the CNC plasma, and one that has been popular with parents.
